As of March 2009, worldwide, 428 eco-villages are registered with the Global Ecovillage Network http://gen.ecovillage.org/index.html.
Europe has the most registered ecovillages, namely (150), followed by North America (130), Latin America (67), Asia/Oceania (58) and Africa/Middle East (24).
This data does not include any ecovillages of the Anastasia type (ecovillages of Kin’s Domains) that have been created and have been growing very fast in Russia and other countries during the last ten years.
According to the http://www.anastasia.ru website there are about 140 ecovillages of Kin’s Domains in Russia alone. Ukraine and Belorussia together have another 60 ecovillages of this type.
This new type of ecovillage - an ecovillage of Kin’s Domains - signifies a new era in the global ecovillage movement.
