Making a Similarity

Hi, I chose that title because I wanted to be ironic, instead of saying "making a difference" hehe. I just had a random thought though. What if everyday, or every week we each did something to make someone smile? Or help someone out, that we don't even know. Or do some little project thing for other people, that we wouldn't normally do. (Like giving a gift when it's not someone's birthday, or making something for them).....

What do you think about this? Do you have any ideas? And we could put on here what we did, and how it turned out. It could be really fun

(like when I sent that pm where I was going to go to the store, not that I have skype working on here yet, but I was on the forum briefly) I might not have understood the time difference...

Also, I'll admit that I was hungover that day, so that didn't help. heh, hungover = for when one wants to feel stupid and remorseful and sick.

i like making people smile or a little bit happier, if we all did this to each other everyday, what a better world this would be. Good thread Cloudgazer, think how another would make you smile and then do that to another. If they laugh at you then they're still smiling

I agree with you there sunshine.

Actually having a conversation with the checkout register attendant is always a bit of fun. Giving them a positive attitude makes there day and they are usually VERY easy to get smiling. A pearl of wisdom can even go a long way, as they are more than likely to pass it on to others that they know. Telling them to go slower as they don't get paid enough to work hard usually gets a smile from them.

Stopping at the bus stop to give your umbrella to a person waiting there in the rain. Letting a person whose car is broke down use your cell. Letting a frantic mother whose young child is locked in the car use your cell - or as one man did after mum called fire rescue, just bust the back glass in and reach through to unlock the door - with the mum's permission of course.

Watching an elder who doesn't move so well trying to cross the street, I confess I became upset that no cars would slow down or stop to allow him to cross.

Enough!

I can be a real arsehole sometimes and don't care! I pulled my truck crossways in the road much to the consternation of other drivers and the old man crossed safely. The worst? Car honks and colorful criticisms.

Sometimes things just stick in my craw!

Same thing happened in a bank parking lot. Could those drivers not see the elderly gent was trying to cross the parking lot? Seriously? How much time would it rob from their lives to just stop and let him walk, albeit slowly, across the lot. In that instance all I had to do was back out of parking spot and sit. Blocked the cars nicely. It's a different ball game when some jerk (me) is blocking traffic with their vehicle that you don't dare hit and cause an insurance nightmare - even if on private property - and risk me pressing charges and crying personal injury. -

That is so true! Most people in customer service rolls appreciate a bit of banter :) It used to make my day when I worked in the supermarket if someone bothered to say hello, have a chat about the weather, or anything really.
